My First Thoughts on the MSI GS63 Stealth-010
The Taiwanese company Micro-Star International (MSI) is known for making powerful gaming computers. The company doesn’t just make gaming laptops; it also funds eSports events and makes smart robotic appliances.
So, MSI added the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 to its lineup of game laptops in 2023. This game laptop is powerful and has a long list of awesome specs, which is pretty cool.
But from what I can tell, MSI is not willing to lower the standard of its gaming laptops to make them less expensive. As a result, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 costs a lot, starting at $1,499.77 (as of May 2022).
Even so, the performance of this MSI GS63 Stealth-010 will make you forget about how expensive it is. Read the rest of this page to learn more about this show.
Review of the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s design, screen, ports, and connections
Most MSI computers look good. The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 is not an exception, which is good news.
Many of MSI’s computers are made with high-quality parts, which makes sense. The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 is made with a lithium-magnesium case that has a brushed silver finish.
The case of this laptop really does look and feel smooth. As for color, the body of the laptop is black, except for the red edges that make it stand out.
When you look at the lid, you’ll see two straight trims on the left and right sides and small curves around the edges. In addition to these accents, the lid has a red MSI logo in the middle.
Like most game laptops, this logo keeps glowing as long as the screen is on. Also, the word “MSi” is written in white above this image in a very nice way.
The two small springs that hold the lid of the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 in place are on the sides of the base of the laptop. These hinges are not too stiff and allow the lid to be opened with just one hand.
The lid can also open up to 180 degrees because of the springs. So, if you want to, you will be able to lay the laptop flat on a surface.
When you open the lid of the laptop, you’ll see a 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) display. This screen has a lot of features that should make your game feel more real.
First of all, the screen has an IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel, which lets you see it from up to 178 degrees away. So, even if you’re sitting right next to the screen (which is close to 180°), the images will still look sharp and clear.
In addition to having an IPS panel, this display has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 3 ms response time. To be clear, a computer display’s refresh rate is how many times it draws a new picture per second.
Also, the refresh rate of the screen can be just as important as the clock speed of the GPU. This is because, even if your laptop’s GPU can draw a lot of frames per second, you’ll only see as many as your screen can show.
So, the 120 Hz refresh rate of this laptop’s screen should make pictures smoother and clearer. So, the laptop’s game experience as a whole got better.
On the other hand, response time is how long it takes for each monitor pixel to change from one color to the next. Since the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s screen can respond in as little as 3 milliseconds, fast-moving content like racing games will look very smooth and attractive.
On the other hand, this laptop’s screen is surrounded by thick bezels that might get in the way of games. The word “MSi” is written in white in the middle of the bottom frame.
In the same way, there is an HD camera in the middle of the top bezel. This webcam works well for Skype and Zoom video chats, but it might not be the best for taking pictures.
This is because the webcam makes pictures that aren’t very clear. Still, if there is enough light, the webcam might be able to take good pictures.
Moving on to the base, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s keyboard is a beautiful piece of work. It’s a full-size keyboard that runs on SteelSeries Engine 3.
This keyboard is fully lighted and lets you change the colors in three different zones. This means that you can make each zone glow in any color you want, which is pretty cool.
Also, each key on the keyboard moves 2.2 mm. When I say “key travel,” I mean the distance from where a key rests to where it hits the lowest point.
With a key travel of 2.2 mm, the keyboard on this laptop should be easy and nice to use. Also, the computer should be good enough for playing games.
The Windows key on this laptop’s keyboard is in a different place than on most others. Most of the time, the Windows key is at the end of the bottom row of keys on the left side of the computer.
But on the MSI GS63 Stealth-010, it is at the right end of the bottom row of keys on the right side of the keyboard. But MSI computers often have the Windows key in an awkward place, so it might not be a big deal.
Still, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s keyboard has a touchpad at the bottom that looks like it is big and smooth. This touchpad has click buttons built right in, and they work very well.
Also, the touchpad works well and is precise. So, the touchpad should make it easy to move around and move the pointer.
After that, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has a good number of ports. On the right side of the game laptop, there is one USB 2.0 port and one USB Type-C port that doubles as a Thunderbolt port.
Also on the right is an HDMI port, a Mini-Display port, and a port for charging. On the left side, you’ll find an Ethernet port, a 3-in-1 card reader, a microphone jack, a headphone jack, and three USB 3.2 ports.
The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has a Bluetooth 5.0 card and a WiFi 5 card (802.11ac) for wireless connections.
These two wireless modules are impressive because they are among the new wireless technologies for sharing info. So, even though there are newer versions, you won’t feel like you need one any time soon.
At the bottom of the MSI GS63 Stealth-010, there are several air holes that let hot air escape. The laptop has one fan to cool the CPU and two fans to cool the GPU. These fans blow out the hot air.
So, this laptop should stay cool even when used for a lot of games. Now that we’ve said that, let’s talk about how big and heavy the laptop is.
The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 is 379.9 mm wide, 248.9 mm deep, and 17.5 mm high. It weighs 1986.7 g. Even though this laptop is pretty heavy, most of its rivals are heavier.
For instance, the ASUS ROG GL502VM is 390 mm wide, 266 mm deep, and 23.50 mm high. It weighs 2240 g. Also, the Lenovo Legion Y720 is 380 mm wide, 280 mm deep, and 30 mm high. It weighs a huge 3061.8 g.
Taking everything into account, I’ll give the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 a nine out of ten for its style. MSI GS63 Stealth-010

The cores are just different places in the middle of the CPU where different jobs can be done. The cache memory, on the other hand, is a part of the processor that stores data temporarily so that jobs can be done faster.
Tasks should usually be done faster on a CPU with more cores and cache memory. Since this laptop’s processor has more cores and cache memory, it should run faster than processors with less cores and cache memory.
Aside from that, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s CPU runs at a base frequency of 2.20 GHz and a boost frequency of 4.10 GHz. The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 should be able to handle most high-end games and demanding jobs like video editing with this CPU.
Let’s talk about how the laptop did on the Cinebench R15 test so we can get a better idea of how well it works. In case you didn’t know, Cinebench R15 is an app-based benchmark test that measures how well a CPU performs when it has to do a lot of work.
Also, this test works because the jobs are done by the CPU’s cores. The test still checks how fast the CPU can finish the tasks while it is doing this.
In the end, the CPU is given two numbers. The higher these numbers are, the better the CPU works. The single-core score and the multi-core score are two of these numbers.
For clarity, the single-core score is what you get when you only use one of the CPU’s cores to do the work. The multi-core number, on the other hand, is reached when all of the CPU’s cores are used to do the work.
So, when the Cinebench R15 test was over, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 got 115 points for a single core. It also got a score of 667 points on the multi-core test.
This MSI game laptop did not do as well as the ASUS ROG GL502VM with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ. This ASUS laptop got a single-core score of 148 points and a multi-core score of 680 points.
Because of this, I’ll give the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 an eight out of ten in this review of processors.
Review of How Well the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 Memory (RAM) Works
The MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has two places for RAM, and one of them comes with 16 GB of memory. DDR4 is the type of RAM.
Also, the laptop can handle up to 32 GB of memory at the most. So, you can add more memory to bring the usual amount up to 32 GB.
With no doubt, this upgrade will make the machine run better. But I think the 16 GB of memory that comes with the laptop is enough for it to play most high-end games well.
Also, the laptop will be able to switch between tasks easily with the usual amount of memory. Also, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 should be able to run 40 Chrome tabs at once without slowing down.
Having said that, I will now share the result of a PCMark 8 test I ran on the laptop to check its speed even more. In short, the PCMark 8 test is used to figure out how well a computer does with productivity chores like browsing the web.
As assumed, a good score on this test means that you did well. So, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 got a score of 3999 points on the standard test.
On the same test, however, the ASUS ROG GL502VM did better, getting 4741 points.
In this study of memory, I will give the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 an overall score of eight out of ten.

- MSI sells the GS63 Stealth-010 with either a SATA HDD (Hard Disk Drive) or an M.2 SSD (Solid State Drive).
But your choice of storage method will rely on two things: how fast it is and how much space it has. In general, SSDs are faster than HDDs, but HDDs have more room for storage.
In terms of storage space, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010’s SSD can only hold up to 256 GB of data. The HDD, on the other hand, can hold up to 1 TB of information.
It’s clear that the HDD option gives you more space to store things than the SSD choice. But the laptop with an SSD will definitely load and save things much faster than the laptop with an HDD.
We will talk about how the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 with M.2 SSD did on a CrystalDiskMark test to show that this is true. This test is a standard test that measures how fast a computer’s storage drive can read and write.
In case you don’t know, read speed is how fast a computer’s hard drive can open a file. On the other hand, write speed is how fast a file can be saved to a computer’s hard drive.
Also, the read and write speeds of the computer’s storage drive are faster when the “MB/s” number on the CrystalDiskMark test is higher. So, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 finished the benchmark test with a read speed of 2141 MB/s and a write speed of 1621 MB/s.
In comparison, the read speed of the Lenovo Legion Y720, which also uses SSD, was 2196 MB/s and the write speed was 1144 MB/s. So, files will open faster on this Lenovo laptop than on the MSI GS63 Stealth-010.
The MSI GS63 Stealth-010, on the other hand, will save files faster.
Before ending this study of storage, it’s important to note that the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has a media card reader that can read three different types of cards at once. This card reader lets you add more space to your storage.
I will give the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 an eight out of ten because of this.
Review of How Well the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 Graphics Card Works
As you would expect from a game laptop, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has a graphics card that is all its own. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is the name of this video card.
The base speed of this GPU is 1404 MHz, and its top speed is 1670 MHz. Also, since this laptop’s GPU is a special graphics card, it has a dedicated VRAM of 6 GB GDDR5.
With this specialized VRAM, the graphics card should be able to handle apps that need a lot of graphics power. Also, it should be able to play AAA games without a hitch.
For example, with the GPU, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 played The Witcher 3 at high graphics settings at 65 frames per second. Not only that, but when I played Dragon Age: Inquisition on my notebook with high graphics settings, I got 88 frames per second.
To show that this laptop has good graphics, I will now look at how it did on the 3DMark 13 Fire Strike test. In short, the 3DMark 13 Fire Strike benchmark test measures how well a computer can draw and fill 3D forms in 3D games.
Also, getting a high score on this test shows that the images work well. The 3DMark 13 Fire Strike test gave the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 a huge score of 9648 points.
On the same test, the Lenovo Legion Y720 scored 9263 points, which was less than the MSI GS63 Stealth-010. By the way, the graphics cards in these computers are the same.

So, to tell you how long the laptop’s battery will last, I’ll talk about how it did on a battery rundown test. For this test, a high-definition (HD) YouTube movie will be played over and over again until the laptop shuts down.
Also, the laptop is set to “Balanced Mode” and 40% light during the test. So, at the end of the test, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 only lasted 4 hours and 36 minutes on a single charge.
The battery life of this laptop is almost the same as that of the Lenovo Legion Y720. On the same test of running down the battery, the Lenovo Legion Y720 lasted 4 hours and 36 minutes.
Overall, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 has an average battery life, so I will give it a seven out of ten in this area.
